Chandrabhaga è un villaggio di pescatori situato nel distretto di Puri nello stato dell’Odisha.

Arrivando dalle zone tribali del Chhattisgarh e dell’Odisha, appena sceso dall’auto mi è sembrato di essere ritornato quasi alla civiltà in quanto le colline e le foreste hanno lasciato il posto al mare e le lunghe distese di risaie alle saline  ma, non appena addentratomi all’interno del piccolo villaggio,  mi sono reso subito reso conto che non era così. Capanne fatte principalmente di grosse foglie, stradine sterrate e bambini curiosi hanno subito catturato il mio sguardo.

Ciò che però mi ha principalmente colpito del villaggio Chandrabhaga è stata la sua completezza in tutti i sensi. Le barche dei pescatori sulla spiaggia, i pescatori intenti a sistemare le loro reti, il pescato del giorno esposto al sole ad essiccare ma anche venditori di biscotti e caramelle, bambini col triciclo, jeans e polo colorate.

Chandrabhaga is a fishing village in Puri district in Odisha.
Coming from the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, just I got out of my car, it seemed to be almost back to civilization as the hills and forests have given way to the sea and the long stretches of rice paddies to the salt flats but as soon gone within the small village, I immediately realized that it was not so. Huts mostly made of large leaves, dirt roads and curious children caught my eyes.
But what has mostly impressed me about Chandrabhaga village was its completeness in every sense.
The fishing boats on the beach, the fishermen intent on arranging their nets, the catch of the day exposed at the sun to dry but also sellers of cookies and candy, children with tricycle, jeans and colored t-shirts.
